Mr. ÖZDAŞ talked about the structure of public budget planning, business processes with stakeholder public institutions and the place of management information systems in the public sector, the requirements of this field of work and his experiences in business life. ÖZDAŞ emphasized that the problems experienced in information systems are generally not technical problems. He said that the problems and deficiencies arise from the interaction problem between technical IT personnel and standard personnel using the information system, and this is exactly within the field of work of MIS department graduates. He stated that it is important for technical IT personnel and software developers to work interactively with sector stakeholders in the development of information systems where sector-specific knowledge is required.
He explained the characteristics that MIS graduates should have as follows: A successful MIS graduate in business life should have a strategic and holistic thinking system in social life. Must be open to developing the perspective and competencies that know the purpose, needs and software requirement processes well and can address the needs of the system as a whole.
Mr. ÖZDAŞ answered the questions of the participants. These questions and their answers are as follows:
What would you recommend a MIS student do while they are still a student?
“Lots of practice. Conducting studies on needs analysis and solution of needs. Serving as a business analyst in certain teams. “
How did you gravitate towards this field?
“I have always been interested in this field since the past. I loved the idea of producing a solution to a need in the public sector, and I realized that I could meet most of these needs with the information system and moved forward in this field. “
Is the public or the private sector better in this field?
“While the analyst role is developing in the public sector, I would recommend the private sector in the near term. “
How do you evaluate MIS in the public sector?
“Being an analyst in the public sector is something that cannot be done well. There is a problem in terms of time for analysis, but I think it will not continue like this. There should be analysis teams in public institutions. "After performing the analysis very well, the burden on the software process is eliminated."
What should we pay attention to when choosing a doctorate or master's degree?
“It would be better if you choose a field close to the industry you work in. You can integrate your information together. “
Event was completed with Management Information Systems Department Head Prof. Dr. Hakan TEKEDERE presenting a certificate of appreciation to Mr. Özdaş and taking a group photo.
